Steve Conte

Renowned NYC musician Steve Conte, celebrated for his work with New York Dolls, Michael Monroe, Willy DeVille & others is the real deal; a soul-singer & guitar-slinger, of whom legendary Aerosmith soundman Nitebob says - “He sings like Rod Stewart while playing like Jeff Beck”.

Steve began releasing albums of his own music in 1990, on Mercury Records with his band Company Of Wolves and has continued into the new millennium with his bands Crown Jewels, The Contes and The Crazy Truth. Now, his Pop-Power-Trio simply called “Steve Conte” - with drummer Rob Youngberg (Lotion) & bass-man Ben Toro (The Everyothers) - is recording a new album for Wicked Cool Records, the label owned by Bruce Springsteen guitarist/Sopranos actor Stevie Van Zandt.

The music sounds like what you’d get if you smashed The Beatles, Kinks & Who into The Replacements, Pretenders & XTC - with lyrical themes of truth, misinformation, entitlement, boredom, heartache, fidelity, addiction, loss, love & lust.

With his current band, Steve has toured with NYC punk legends The Dictators up & down the east coast as well as on the Underground Garage Cruise and over the years has played shows supporting Ace Frehley and Nashville Pussy among others.

The Concrete Jangle, Conte’s latest album on Wicked Cool released in 2024 was half co-written by his songwriting hero, Andy Partridge of XTC. Songs from this and other albums have been heavily featured on the internationally syndicated “Little Steven’s Underground Garage” radio program, many of them winning Top 5 placement as Coolest Song Of The Year. One of the singles, his non-partisan political song, “We Like It” won Best Music Video award at the Golden Door International Film Festival.

The Concrete Jangle, recorded at Van Zandt’s studio in NYC features Conte on vocals, guitars, keyboards, percussion (and arrangement/production), drummers Prairie Prince (XTC, The Tubes), Thommy Price (Billy Idol, Joan Jett) & Brian Delaney (New York Dolls), brother John Conte (Ian Hunter, David Bowie) on bass and many others who helped to shape Conte’s vision for a Brit Pop/Psych ‘60s/Post-Punk ‘80s sound with trashy NYC guitars.

For live shows the band has decided to forego the Mellotrons, organs, pianos and horns that adorn the album and deliver a stripped down, kick-ass rock ’n’ roll show encompassing original songs from Steve's albums plus choice covers by Rockpile, Ramones, Rolling Stones, Bo Diddley and of course - New York Dolls.

The Jellybricks

The even-keeled ascent of The Jellybricks is living proof that lasting passion trumps flash-in-the-pan fame. A rock group in the classic two-guitars-bass-drums tradition, this Harrisburg, Pennsylvania-based crew persevered for two decades before claiming the spotlight with “Some Kind Of Lucky,” their first album for Wicked Cool Records. “The opportunity to make a new, better record is what always leads us back into the recording studio,” says guitarist/vocalist Larry Kennedy.

The Jellybricks began as a vehicle for Larry’s original songs in the mid-’90s but has steadily evolved across eight releases into a truly four headed collaborative force, with all four members writing and sharing lead vocals. “We’ve gotten really good at speaking the same language when it comes to collaborating.” says bassist/vocalist Garrick Chow.

Inspired by melodic rock ’n’ roll traditions from the ’60s British Invasion to ’90s alternative, their ear worm track record caught the attention of Stevie Van Zandt, founder of Wicked Cool Records and the Underground Garage radio properties, who elevated their 2012 track “Rock ’n’ Roll Suicide” and 2014’s “About The Weekend” to “Coolest Song in the World” status on Little Steven’s Underground Garage.

2019 saw the release of "Some Kind Of Lucky,” which included the song “Brooklyn,” notable for being the first track co-written by all four Jellybricks, and which received a nomination for Best Video at the Independent Music Awards. The album itself set a record with four songs earning the title of "Coolest Song in the World" in Little Steven’s Underground Garage. The Jellybricks' dedication was further recognized that year when they were honored with the Central PA Music Hall of Fame Best Rock Band award.

In February of 2025, the band released “Dreaming in Stereo,” produced by Grammy-winning producer Geoff Sanoff, and featuring guest appearances by guitarist Doug Gillard (Guided by Voices/Nada Surf) on the tracks “Monday’s Never” and “Enchanted I Am.” Critics have compared the new album’s blend of ‘60s melodic charm and ‘90s rock punch to Fountains of Wayne meets Replacements-style grit, and attest that “Dreaming in Stereo is pure power-pop bliss.”
