Sea Shanty Night part II: Halfway to St. Paddy's edition

MARC BERNIER

Marc Bernier is a Chanteyman, Musician, Chef, and Sailor all the way. This guy is the real deal, folks: He hasn’t just loved it, he has LIVED it.

No stranger to sea music audiences, he spent the better part of a decade as a Mystic Seaport Chanteyman. He’s worked as a musician and educator for the Clearwater program on the Hudson River, and has sailed as cook, deck hand, and entertainer on numerous traditional sailing vessels from the coast of Maine to the Chesapeake Bay.

As an accomplished percussionist, he is much in demand to play Frottior (rubboard) with many of New England's most highly respected Cajun and Zydeco bands. He also builds bodhrans (celtic drums) from scratch and has played them on the road and sea with several prominent Irish performers. For musical accompaniment he is equally at home with Guitar, Mandolin, and Tenor Banjo, and has also been active in Connecticut's Fife & Drum community since his teenage years. His notoriety as a chanteyman & fifer has brought him invitations to perform all throughout North America and Europe. MY DRUTHERS

Rebel songs of Ireland & the Sea! Consisting of a rotating lineup of all-stars from the Connecticut music scene, My Druthers has been hitting it hard these past few years with shows throughout New England, the Midwest & Southeastern US, as well as Thailand, Singapore, Cambodia, and Vietnam.

The Druthers brothers haul to the fore a lifetime spent in punk rock and rebel folk scenes, and they bring that energy and aggression to the stage in the form of shanty nights, pub sings, & punk shows both at home and abroad. Renowned for their raucous & rowdy take on the age-old tradition, it’s hard not to raise a pint, stomp your feet, and sing along with these salty rebels and CT shantymen!

The fellas have performed with: the Tossers, Off With Their Heads, Derek Warfield & the Young Wolfe Tones, Lenny Lashley’s Gang of One, Enter the Haggis, Dublin City Ramblers, Jesse Ahern, the Peelers, Skald (France), the Dreadnoughts, Kilmaine Saints, and many others.
