Born & brewed in Wisconsin, Social Cig is the ‘Indie-Skate-Rock’ music project of Filipino American, Parker Schultz. Consisting of contagious authenticity, cheery live shows, and cultivating an original story with an attitude of gratitude, Social Cig is creating full-circle moments. Leafing through global music scenes with an ambitious DIY approach and writing songs that capture a genuine outlook from a modern-day Midwest cowboy, Social Cig has existed into a well-rounded grassroots venture.

Who tf is Tj Redding?

Fair question.

Tj Redding has spent the better part of the last 12 years writing songs, playing shows, and finding increasingly elaborate ways to avoid having a normal hobby. Most people probably know him as the frontman of Mighty Tortuga, where he helped lead the band from humble CT beginnings to signing a record deal in 2022 with Taking Back Sunday’s Fred Mascherino. As a solo artist, he’s been quietly releasing music since 2021, with two releases currently floating around the streaming universe.

But performing music is only part of the story.

Redding is the founder of Shoreline Summer Festival, CT’s #1 DIY Music and Arts Festival, and Salt Jacket Booking. Two projects built around a pretty simple idea: CT has an incredible music and arts community, and the people who are a part of it deserve bigger stages, better opportunities, and more reasons to give a dang about what’s happening in their own backyard.

From booking show around New Haven, partnering with local businesses, building Shoreline into something bigger every year, or finding ways to lift up the people around him, community has become just as important to Redding as making music itself.

As for the solo thing? There’s no grand plan here. He’s been writing songs for 12 years, and sometimes he wants to play them.

To answer your question at the beginning, Tj Redding is just a dude having fun making tunes, supporting his friends, and saying yes when someone asks him to play a show.
