THE EMPTY POCKETS
Chicago blues quartet The Empty Pockets are coming to New Haven with their holiday tour.
This band harnesses a joyful friction between Americana, folk, and rock ‘n’ roll spiked with roots soul. Spend a beautiful evening of “Mistletunes” with the band, celebrating with fresh takes on the holiday classics you know and love, while festively combining seasonal favorites like “Let It Snow” and “Run Run Rudolph” with The Empty Pockets’ Billboard chart-topping original songs.
HOLY PINTO
Holy Pinto is the indie-pop group led by songwriter, Aymen Saleh. It originally began in his hometown of Canterbury, England and now based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Beginning in the UK and influenced by a youthful raw, punk sound, they sweetened their sound over time with a blend of colourful indie-pop and singer-songwriter stylings.
After falling in love with touring life in the United States - from a combination carefree independence and an array of serendipitous situations - he settled in Milwaukee Wisconsin and penned a short concept record about the city in spring of 2020. The record received significant acclaim from local press, alongside national publications such as NPR, including a spot on their coveted SXSW “Austin 100” list of hyped emerging artists.
Recently teaming up with Bartees Strange, who handled production duties, Holy Pinto gears released the single “us, married” in the fall of 2022 - a stylistically-ambitious, lovelorn reflection on relationships, conflicting feelings, and the expectations that come with growing up.
Incorporating a wider array of instruments, sounds and styles influenced from his time during the pandemic contributing to other artists’ music - including pop, hip-hop, and afrobeat - the recent single "Death Is In The Air" marks a new era for Holy Pinto, with a full-length to follow in 2025.
— “Sweetly jangling, goodnatured Britpop — uses his songwriting to reflect on the pull of both places and the pressures inherent in growing up. Dispensed with abundant charm and grace, his songs feel warm and lived-in.”
